Gnars are a new way to fund extreme athletes
We prefer a world where kids aren't sold energy drinks by their heroes. So as a community of action sports enthusiasts, we've formed a DAO to rethink how extreme athletes get sponsored.
Gnars are NFTs on the Ethereum blockchain
Based on Nouns open source and CC0 artwork, they're stored fully on-chain with no external dependencies. Each one gets you a DAO vote and memberships are available at auction, forever.
Gnars are dedicated to supporting the artistry of extreme athletes

Nounifying Brazil Proposal has Passed!
The first DAO to DAO proposal, executed by Gnars DAO and proposed to Nouns DAO, has officially passed as of yesterday! The vote was nearly unanimous, with only one vote against which was because he thought the funding request was too low to pass through on-chain governance. We are stoked to have successfully passed the first on-chain DAO to DAO proposal and could not be more excited to see the impact this event will have on the Brazilian community and the Nouns ecosystem as a whole.
Gnars Video is Live
The Nounish video produced by Goldy along with Gami and the crew at NFT NYC has finally gone live and it blew all our expectations out of the water! The team did an amazing job of capturing the ethos and vision of Gnars DAO. If you haven’t seen it yet, you need to check it out immediately, you will not be disappointed.
The first Gnartwork contest has officially ended! Winners have been selected here. Thank you everyone for your submissions, can’t wait to see what you all come up with for the next round.
Next week, we’ll be running the same Gnartwork contest but with a special theme. The theme for the week will be banners for this newsletter! Winners will earn prices and selected banners will be featured in future editions of Gnarly News. Keep an eye out on Twitter for the details!
Lil Sisters x Gnars Grant
The Lil Sisters Fund from Lil Nouns DAO has passed a proposal to sponsor a female/LGBTQ athlete with 1 ETH! Gnars will be scouting an athlete and submitting a proposal to match this 1 ETH grant to sponsor an athlete in the coming weeks, so keep an eye out.

Shred to Earn
Over a 12 week pilot period, we'll be prompting skaters, boarders, riders (all extreme sports) to share their most creative (and Extremely nounish) tricks. Each week a guest judge from Team Gnars will help promote and choose winners based on creativity and flair. It's a loose proof of concept for a global expression session hosted atop hashtags across various social media.
Since this is the first edition of our newsletter I just wanted to give a shout-out to all the people who have contributed to or supported the Gnars movement along the way. Whether you’re an athlete, investor, artist, or simply an enthusiast, we appreciate your continued support in building out the Gnars community. There has been an amazing influx of new members in recent weeks and we are thrilled to see Gami’s vision having a tangible impact in communities all over the globe.
