Gnars are a new way to fund extreme athletes

We prefer a world where kids aren't sold energy drinks by their heroes. So as a community of action sports enthusiasts, we've formed a DAO to rethink how extreme athletes get sponsored.

Gnars are NFTs on the Ethereum blockchain

Based on Nouns open source and CC0 artwork, they're stored fully on-chain with no external dependencies. Each one gets you a DAO vote and memberships are available at auction, forever.

Gnars are Extremely Nounish🤘

It’s been quite a crazy week since posting our latest proposal to Nouns DAO on chain. While the proposal did not receive enough votes to pass it has certainly riled up the nouniverse. It brought out a record number of voters, with over 50% of Nouns exercising their right to vote, and provoked discussion of significantly important topics around the proposal process, expectations of proposers from the DAO, and operation of sub-DAOs.

Unfortunately, there was some drama around the proposal due to Gami’s thread below which outlines how he decided to change things up at the last minute. We remain optimistic that the discussions that took place and the learnings from this whole event will be a benefit to Nouns DAO in the long run. We received a lot of useful feedback and will refine our approach and return with a bulletproof proposal in the coming weeks.

Proposal 189 saw a whopping 298 votes Breaking the @nounsdao record for voter turnout of 251 votes held by Proposal 167 But I've a confession to make... We pulled a publicity stunt. Here's the how and why:

Australian Open

The AO Artball project has partnered with Nouns and Gnars! They are offering allowlist spots via Premint for their upcoming release, special Nouns themed Artball’s, and an activation at the Australian Open with Gami. The project utilizes tennis’ electronic line-calling technology to track where balls hit the ground in live matches and then proceeds to update the metadata of the NFT associated with that plot on the court.
